Priscila Paul, MA, LMHCA

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
(425) 939-6856 priscilap@seattlechristiancounseling.com

As a therapist, I value authenticity, integrity, and honesty and strive to bring these elements into each session. I offer counseling for children and adults facing a variety of concerns, including parenting struggles, codependent relationships, abandonment issues, ADHD, trauma and PTSD, and much more. As a first-generation immigrant, I have a unique understanding of hardship, suffering, and endurance. Using this perspective combined with proven therapeutic techniques, I will partner with you as you journey through self-discovery, healing, and growth. My faith is central to my life, and I rely on the Holy Spirit’s wisdom and guidance in all things personal and professional.

About

My experiences have allowed me to understand and connect with others from various cultural backgrounds in a unique way. In addition, my clients will gain an empathetic, genuine, and Christ-centered perspective as they walk through their journey of healing and self-discovery. After listening to your story, I will work with you to develop the best treatment plan for your needs, walking with you each step of the way. I believe there is power in prayer and that the Word of God is living and active; therefore, these are the catalysts for true healing and freedom.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

As we explore your internal world and as you grow in self-awareness, my hope is that our time together will result in impactful change in your life. My hope is that you will develop a greater understanding of yourself, your behavior patterns, and how to overcome unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. My aim is for you to see yourself and God more clearly in the midst of your circumstances.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

You will be greeted with a warm welcome and a genuine desire to learn and understand your story. I love to start each session by getting a general overview of how your week has been and how you are feeling. I will follow your lead in terms of where you want each session to go, offering therapeutic guidance along the way. At the end of each session, if you are open to prayer, I would be honored to pray for you.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

As a Christian counselor, I believe that true healing ultimately comes from the Lord. As Christians, we are not exempt from the effects of sin and the fall – we still experience loss and suffering. But I believe that suffering is never for nothing; it is always producing something greater in us. Yet, our vision often gets clouded in seasons of suffering, and we can lose sight of who we are and who God is. Therefore, faith is foundational to my counseling approach because true healing, comfort, and restoration come through the power of Christ. In seasons of shame, hopelessness, and despair, His comfort and loving hand carry us through.

Abandonment and Neglect

The effects of abandonment and neglect in early childhood tend to follow us into adulthood. We may find ourselves in failed relationships, friendships, or dysfunctional patterns of behavior. Deeply rooted is the ache of feeling unloved, unwanted, and alone. Together, we can begin the journey of healing by gaining a deeper understanding of your early experiences and how they have impacted your attachment style.

Counseling for Children / Parenting

I have worked with children for over nine years in various forms. Children are highly impressionable and adaptable; therefore, my goal is to cultivate a fun and comfortable environment in which my clients can learn and heal. I use play therapy, CBT, and experiential therapy to work through ADHD symptoms, trauma, and behavioral issues. In addition, parent coaching is a key aspect of working with children and involves individual sessions with parents as we work toward establishing healthy communication patterns, family dynamics, and more.

Codependency

What does codependency look like? It means minimizing needs and having low self-esteem, difficulty setting boundaries, and the need for external validation. As we embark on the healing journey together, we will explore your early childhood experiences and relationship patterns and identify the needs that continue to remain unmet in your life. Together we will work to develop a deeper level of awareness and acceptance and move toward action and change.

Spiritual Development

I am passionate about coming alongside individuals who desire to deepen their faith, have experienced church hurt, are struggling with doubt, or are in the midst of figuring out what they believe about God and themselves. Together, we will walk through Scripture and develop a deeper understanding of who God is and how we are called to live in relationship to Him.

Women’s Issues

I believe that women were uniquely designed by the Lord with a specific purpose to impact the environment and culture they are part of, whether that’s in the workplace, ministry, or motherhood. I aim to use a compassionate approach as we navigate the distinct challenges that women face – psychologically, physically, emotionally, and relationally.
